Testimonials

Angela is collaborative with families and creative with her range of assignments, often incorporating games and other fun activities to keep children's interest. Audrey and Yura have several games they particularly enjoy (Fiddlesticks, Candy Bingo, and trading in practice and lesson points for candy, just to name a few). They also like getting together with other students for monthly group piano classes. They feel a real sense of accomplishment upon learning a new piece and seeing how far they've come as pianists and musicians.

Since studying with Angela, we have seen Audrey and Yura's musicianship grow significantly. We love that she really stresses musicality and expression and makes space for students' imagination. Angela challenges her students to remain open to playing music from a variety of musical eras and styles, introducing them to jazz, improvisation, and composition, while remaining open to feedback and focusing on what the student most prefers. Angela really understands how students of different ages learn - we've witnessed how incredibly innovative she is in adapting to students' challenges as they transition from younger elementary through middle school years. The girls' technique, sense of rhythm, and interpretation of music have all improved greatly over the last few years.

Like Audrey and Yura, we also appreciate the group classes and recitals, as they provide a chance to interact with other students and hear their progress - we find that the girls often come away from the recitals being inspired by some of the more advanced students. It's been particularly rewarding to witness all of Audrey and Yura's growth as musicians and also see their confidence and sense of pride develop with each new performance or event.

We are incredibly grateful for the impact our daughter’s piano teacher, Angela Michael, has had on her life. She has been her teacher since she was 7 years old, and over the years, piano has become something she truly enjoys—not just practicing, but genuinely learning and playing classical songs with confidence. Through piano lessons and socials, she has formed meaningful friendships and now looks forward to spending time with friends she met through music.

Beyond learning to play the piano, she has developed strong discipline and time-management skills, learning how to practice consistently and work toward goals. She takes pride in being able to play music for others and feels encouraged by the compliments she receives, which has helped build her confidence.

As parents, we’ve also appreciated the sense of community that piano has brought into our lives. Angela organized piano socials, duets, and trios that create wonderful opportunities for families to connect, and it’s been a joy getting to know other piano families along the way. Angela's piano studio has been about so much more than music—it has fostered growth, friendship, and a strong sense of belonging for both children and parents alike. Thank you Angela!

Angela’s patient guidance and thoughtful teaching have made a remarkable difference in Grace’s piano journey. In just two years, Grace has learned to not only read music but to also break down challenging music in order to make an initially intimidating piece approachable and enjoyable. It has been a joy to hear her play with musicality, really telling the story of a piece. Angela’s guidance has helped Grace develop confidence at the piano that shines through during her performances and will extend far beyond music. We’re so grateful for Angela’s patience and expertise.

It has been wonderful to watch Nora progress not only as a pianist but as a musician.  Angela focuses initially on establishing a solid appreciation and love for music in addition to the technical aspects of learning a new instrument.  When we first started, Angela spent a lot of time with Nora on proper positioning and form.  As a musician myself, I know this is something not every piano teacher does.   This has made all the difference in establishing a strong foundation and has allowed Nora to learn new skills and advance so much more naturally.  Nora has particularly enjoyed getting to know other young students in Angela's studio as well as learn pieces that she truly enjoys listening to.  She has really enjoyed playing in ensembles with other pianists during recitals.  As parents, Angela has encouraged us to be very involved in Nora's progress. Our family has all deepened our appreciation for music with this involvement.  Watching Nora become more composed and confident in her skills with Angela has been a great joy for us.

“Over the past year, Jack has made great progress in piano thanks to Angela’s thoughtful and encouraging teaching style. Angela has created a piano program that truly resonates with children. She uses a points system with rewards to motivate practice and reinforce positive habits, which has been a great incentive for Jack. Her ability to tailor lessons to a child’s interests, combined with her focus on parent involvement, has made a noticeable difference. The monthly group piano meetings have become a highlight for Jack, giving him the chance to build friendships and enjoy music with his peers. We are so happy to continue working with Angela and would wholeheartedly recommend her to other families.”

We are incredibly grateful for Ms. Angela, who is truly passionate about teaching and about each student’s growth. She is caring and patient, yet very structured, which creates the perfect balance for effective learning. Our kids are consistently challenged in a positive, encouraging way that builds both skill and confidence. Lessons are well-organized but never rigid, there’s always a fun, engaging environment that keeps our kids motivated and excited to learn. We’ve seen meaningful progress not only in piano skills, but also in focus, discipline, and love for music. We highly recommend Mrs. Angela  to any family looking for a teacher who genuinely invests in their students.

Upon retiring, I decided to pursue taking piano lessons as a way to challenge myself, along with the opportunity to enjoy playing beautiful music. I really love being able to sit down and focus on the music I’m learning to play, and let everything else go. I also feel fortunate to be exposed to a variety of so many timeless pieces.

When I begin learning something new it is often slow going, but by the end of a week of practice I am always amazed at how much progress I have made which feels very satisfying, and encouraging! I often find myself humbled as an adult learner as I’ve rediscovered that learning something new takes time and effort. However, I am grateful to be continually learning, and to have a supportive teacher guiding and cheering me on along this delightful journey.

Aisling has thoroughly enjoyed learning piano, recognizing the hard work she has put in, especially when she conquers challenging pieces. The sense of accomplishment she feels after pushing through something difficult is a highlight of her experience. She’s also loved meeting other young pianists in the studio, building friendships with peers she might not have encountered otherwise. This is all thanks to the wonderful sense of community Angela has cultivated. Aisling feels inspired by those around her and motivated to grow alongside them.

It has been amazing to see how Aisling’s courage and discipline have grown throughout her piano journey. Angela has a way of gently nudging her out of her comfort zone, and it’s been transformative. Tackling new challenges and seeing the results of her efforts has boosted her confidence—not just in music but in other areas of her life as well. The creativity she channels into her playing now spills over into her schoolwork and hobbies. Watching her embrace this process has been so rewarding.

As parents, we’ve been so impressed with Angela’s teaching approach. Observing her instruction firsthand in the studio has shown us how accessible and effective piano learning can be. Angela’s ability to make lessons engaging while encouraging Aisling to strive for her best is inspiring. Her guidance has even extended to us as parents—tools to better support Aisling’s growth at home. The transformation we’ve seen from a hesitant beginner to an eager and confident performer has been incredible.

Ms. Angela has been such an amazing teacher to my son!

From the moment we walked into her cozy, welcoming piano studio, we knew it was the right place. The grand piano is beautiful, and the sound it makes fills the room with such warmth. What we love most is how Ms. Angela creates a fun, supportive environment for the kids. She organizes monthly group sessions which not only helps them learn to work together but also boosts their confidence.

She’s great at teaching more than just the notes—she emphasizes good posture, proper finger technique, and the importance of dynamics in music. Ms. Angela’s patience and encouragement have made all the difference for my son. It’s because of her that he loves playing the piano so much!

We’ve seen such amazing progress, from playing "Carol of the Bells" to tackling "Take Five" and even winning the Best of Festival award in the Junior Division at the Jazz, Rags, and Blues Festival.

We’re so grateful for Ms. Angela’s guidance and would wholeheartedly recommend her studio to anyone looking for a great piano teacher.

Jemma

I have been taking piano lessons with Ms. Angela for about 8 years and I am now in 8th grade.

She’s an amazing piano teacher and has inspired me from the very first lesson to enjoy learning how to play the piano and to understand the world of music.

She respects her students’ interests, such as what kind of music they are interested in playing, and encourages all of her students to accomplish their goals and to share their music with those around them.

Ms. Angela’s piano lessons have not only helped me to become the pianist that I now am, but have also taught me to appreciate music.

The lessons have allowed me to quickly learn how to play other instruments such as the ukulele and violin, due to having studied music in so much depth, to include theory and technique.

I would definitely recommend Ms. Angela to anyone interested in learning how to play the piano.

Angela is a wonderful piano teacher who thrives with both children and adults of any ability.

Her enjoyment and appreciation of music inspires others. She uses different teaching methods to connect with students, encourage practice, and teach all of the components of music that grow a pianist.

She works hard to offer many opportunities to play in front of others and learn the value of performance and is always supportive and encouraging of her performers.

I value her focus on music theory and technique, as my daughter has evolved and is able to take on more challenging music with such ability and enjoyment.

Angela has always been astute to the need of flexibility within lessons, as children’s needs and interests shift with growth, and she welcomes students’ on musical interests.

Angela is an expert pianist in her own right and is always personally challenging herself to grow as a pianist and teacher.

I recommend Angela wholeheartedly!
